Emptied

The tree was full this spring,

Heavy, reaching for the clouds.

Now, it rattles in breeze.

Grow

Puddles in the yard.

This one turned into a pond.

Trees reflect in it.

Wisp

The cold porch at night—

Pelting rain and cigar smoke.

Fall meditations.

---------------------------------------

One

The empty kitchen—

I smoke beside the one lamp.

The cat meows somewhere.

---------------------------------------

Close

The cat and window.

She looks by jerking her head.

Birds chirp, unknowing.
