Awake- Original Lyrics
Ooh I've been asleep for far too long
sleeping inside a city with the lights dimmed low
wondering when life would be alive again
Ooh I've been asleep walker for far too long
and the choice mine to awake, again
Ooh the choice is mind to awake, again
awake to the kindled flames breathed upon by Prometheus
to the darkness opened by Pandora's grace
Ooh the choice ours to awake, again
and the choice ours to awake, again
Ooh we live in lands held in dark and light
knowledge blessing's curse with the light fed low
feeding life alive again
Ooh and its our choice to awake again
It's our choice to awake again
to the life that bleeds inside these veins
The story of Prometheus is an ancient one, not the Greek myth, but the original story.
The Greek myth tells the heroism of the lowly challenger to Zeus. Prometheus gave humanity that which lets them play with the gods, Consciousness. Known as the fire of the gods, the Titan builds mankind out of clay and implants heavenly fire stolen from Olympus.
The hero was sent to suffer by Zeus for the blessed curse that he gave his creation, us. Emotional doubt, Should he have not shown them the knowledge of good and evil; Was he destined to find the tree of knowledge in the center of the garden; Will all of this endless suffering be for naught, or will these creatures pierce the veil of all reality?
We know not his name, but something gave us our ability to reason, ask questions, and doubt. From these patterns scream all of culture and knowledge; everything from the extraterrestrial habitation of the space station to the darkest dungeon.
Thank you Prometheus, you had the foresight to sacrifice yourself for our sin of ignorance.
Your memory will not be forgotten.
