#celebrating the new @cleansingpoetry bid bot for promoting poetry!
To celebrate @cleansingpoetry as a new bid bot for poetry promotion; I’m offering this pantoum poem of the Desert Poem shared on Steemit already. A pantoum has a set pattern where the second and fourth lines of a verse are repeated as the first and third lines of the next verse. Both poems created in the Inlandia Institute writing workshop with Professor Ruth Nolan.

Between here and there
On a stretch of highway in the Mojave Desert
With sand and shrubs
And Joshua Trees
On a stretch of highway in the Mojave Desert
With a gust of Santa Anna winds
And Joshua Trees
A Bentley Brooklands rests
With a gust of Santa Anna winds
The driver’s door opens
A Bentley Brooklands rests
Crocodile skin boots crush gravel
The driver’s door opens
Heat filled road tar
Crocodile skin boots crush gravel
He-whose-name-is-hidden
Heat filled road tar
God eyes survey the land
He-whose-name-is-hidden
Walking into the Mojave Desert
God eyes survey the land
Filled with unmarked graves
Walking into the Mojave Desert
A lost place in the badlands
Filled with unmarked graves
Near rattlesnake filled rocks
A lost place in the badlands
Resting on his belly arms bent
Near rattlesnake filled rocks
Singing a hymn to Re
Resting on his belly arms bent
Under Horus’ palace
Singing a hymn to Re
From the Book of the Dead
Under Horus’ palace
I am of Pharaoh’s blood
From the Book of the Dead
In a language unknown
I am of Pharaoh’s blood
From the cradle of the Scorpion King
In a language unknown
The crowns of Upper and Lower Egypt
From the cradle of the Scorpion King
The names of the forty-two gods
The crowns of Upper and Lower Egypt
Lost to escaped slaves founders of Judaism
The names of the forty-two gods

A fantastic visual exploration of the desert which opposes a modern view of the Mojave against the ancient Sahara. Clever stuff.
@cyemela, This is lovely. I love the way you repeat lines leading to a new thought, a new picture. It is like a picture book and I flip back and forth for me to get the full picture.
I also love how you took one from one world to the next. This moment we are in Mojave, the next we are at the Pyramids of ancient Egypt.
Then I loved how you switched themes. Everyone probably expected sons of Christendom to go somewhere else not creators of the atom bomb.
This is good stuff. Nicely done.
Thanks @warpedpoetic. Yes, the writing instructor Professor Nolan still spends lots of time in the Mojave and expresses its spiritual qualities. People all over the world go there for spritual cleansing, healing. Yet the Mojave has its own history and culture. Just as ancient and mysterious as Egypt. Thanks for reading.
You are welcome. It was a beautiful read.

Interesting pattern of poem.
I'm just getting to know about this type of poem now. I love the way the lines are repeated; in a way, it keeps reminding me of the theme.
Keep on sharing!
Thanks. Sometimes it helps to write structured poems. Someday might attempt a sonnet. Impossible. LOL
You should try. Lol
The tasking in writing a sonnet might be more fun than you imagined.
