Showcasing my Pokemon collection (Part 2)
A wild Dead Space appears, straight outta his grave! I have had a lot of stuff going on IRL, most of it not really fun or happy things to talk about here. So, I'll save the sob story shit for another time when I really wanna milk your guys nipples for those fat Hive tokens, yo. For now, I figured I'd show off some more of my small collection of Pokemon cards. It's been awhile since I've let out my inner degeneracy and ripped some packs, mostly because the addiction gets really expensive if you're not careful. But, I still have plenty of cool cards here to flex my ultimate god tier status on you guys. The first post I made was just showing what my low tier cards were, I believe I kept the value on those to my cards that were under $10. So, this post I'll go over my mid range cards that are in the $10-30 range.
This card is one of the oldest in my collection, made in 2016, and also features one of my absolute favorite Pokemon, Heracross. Mostly because I watched Starship Troopers several times as a young kid and Heracross reminded me of the bug aliens. Anyways, this was one of the Ultra Rare Full Arts from the Furious Fists set during the XY era. I am very iffy on a lot of these full arts from the XY era, but this one has always been a vibe for me and it's a fairly cheap card ($10-12), so I finally scooped one up recently. I've considered sending it off to be graded, but, I have a feeling it would come back as a 9 since there's some corner whitening, so I'll probably just keep it how it is unless I'm a geriatric grandpa in a retirement home.
While this is one of the newer cards in my collection and not worth a ton, this is one of my favorites. Solely on just the artwork being so rad and horroresque. The rarity on this card is a bit weird, as it is a trainer gallery card. These types of cards are relatively new (There were something similar within the Cosmic Eclipse set, but with a different name/style) and have only been featured within 3 sets so far. This particular one is from the Brilliant Stars set, and features the ghost/psychic Pokemon Mimikyu. You know, the Pokemon that stalks and murder plows Pikachu and then wears his skin over his face. But, yeah. Value on this card is around $13-15, so nothing too crazy. Just a cool card.
And, we've gotten to the part of this post where I show the first secret rare card of my collection. This is the golden secret rare shiny Electrode. This is from the Chilling Reign set, with the odds to pulling a golden secret rare being 1 in 100. So, you'd have to open several hundred packs on average to get every golden secret rare in the set. But, even with it being more rare and hard to pull, this isn't a pricey card. I believe this comes in right around $15-16 on average. I think that's because in part Voltorb/Electrode isn't the most popular pokemon, because people have shit tastes obviously. But, also because there was a shiny electrode released in a set just a year or so before this one. Either way, I scooped this up for my collection since it's so cheap and I think it's pretty neat.
Well, since I'm already yapping my fucking mouth about my boner for shiny Pokmeon, I might as well dump out the rest of them. So, strap in you greasy fucks. This card is a promo from about 5 years ago that was found inside ETB's from the Burning Shadows set. I originally had a few of these, but sold them a long time back when I was losing interest in Pokemon due to financial issues at the time as well as just the absurd rate that they shit out product. I always loved the Heart Gold/Soul Silver era of Pokemon, and thought Shiny Ho-Oh looked cool, so I picked one back up several months ago. This card borders at around $17-20 per copy, though 1.5-2 years ago this was more of a $40-50 card raw.
Since these three cards are all from the same set, I'll just include them all at once. These are all part of a new thing the Pokemon Company is doing, called Radiant Pokemon. Which, is just another term for Shiny Pokemon. But, if we change up the name there's no way anyone would notice, right? Riiiight? These radiant cards are given in the reverse spot of a pack, meaning you could pull two high rarity cards possibly. The unique aspect of these radiant cards though in comparison to old shiny cards, is that these have a unique reverse holo pattern to them that looks like someone simulated minecraft porn onto the cards. It does look pretty neat, I have to say. But, yeah. Each of these cards is from the recent Pokemon Go set, with all of these cards being the Kanto starters in their final evolved forms, but shiny so they look way more kewl and shit, dawg. These are relatively cheap currently, as their pull rates are around 1 in 50 from what I've seen. The Venasaur and Blastoise border around $10-15, while the Charizard is a bit more since everyone is a whore for Charizard, so he sits at around $25. Pretty cool cards for a cheap price.
These next two cards are a bit different than what I've shown thus far. These are graded cards, which is where a lot of their value comes from. These were sent to PSA and graded through them, they're one of the 3 big grading companies around and are probably the most popular. Getting a 10 with a grading company on the condition of your card adds quite a bit of value to them, so people have went pretty fucking crazy with grading in the last few years since Pokemon blew up again. But, yeah. This card features a shiny Voltorb, which evolves into Electrode (Which is why it probably looks familiar if you're not blind) and is from the Hidden Fates set that came out back in 2019, it was one set I'll never be able to crack into on me own unless I get omega rich sometime soon, as a single pack runs $16 and you'd have to open 4-5 packs on average to even get a single $5-10 hit. So, yeah, too rich for my gambling blood. Hidden Fates big draw were all the shiny pokemon that were a subset within it. Some of them reaching prices of $100-400 raw. These normal cards are considered baby shinies, which is cringe to say so fuck you whoever came up with that term. Value wise this card raw is around $7-10 from the last time I checked, and graded at a 10 it comes in at around $25-30. Nothing that's going to make you cum in your pants or anything, but a pretty cool card.
My final card for this post features one of my favorite Pokemon of all time since I was a kid, Scyther. Most of the really cool Scyther cards are expensive as fuck in near mint condition since most of them are from 1999-2003, so when I found this was something that existed I scooped it up quickly. This is another card from the subset of Hidden Fates, showing Scyther in his shiny form. This card as a raw single is around $10, but with it being graded as a 10 the value is around $30-35. Though, this in part due to the cost of grading being pretty pricey as of late. Still a sweet fucking card featuring a super under appreciated mon.
Well, I guess that'll do it for this post. The next one I make I'll be showing off the bigger hitters from my collection, though I might split that up into two posts since I have plans to get some nice cards within the next few months. I guess we'll see, anyways. Thanks for letting me have a nerdgasm all over your disgusting faces. Now, go clean yourselves up, maybe call a cab and get the fuck out of here.
Until next time, my doods! Later!
