When sbd is valued above a dollar, it is better to do a 50/50 payout. As new SBDs are minted at a dollar each. If steem and SBD are worth $3 each for convenience, and say you get (after curation fees) a $12 payout. you'd get 2 steem, but 6 sdb. So your real payout would be about $24; (2x3)+(6x3). You can easily convert/exchange SBD to steem, then power up the steem.

Keeping it steem only as you are doing now is limiting yourself to the original $12. So you are cutting your earnings potential by half.
