In this country PATRIOTISM always prevails

The NFL has decided to be political. They have rules & fines for the smallest things, such as how to celebrate the end-zone, yet no rule on standing for the national anthem.

Are YOU allowed to display your political views at work?

Colin Kaepernick of the SF 49er’s started kneeling during the anthem to protest his perception of social injustices the Black Community faces. He thinks by sitting out, he is bringing attention to those issues, says the African American who makes millions a year for playing football in the USA. Since taking the knee, nothing has changed for young African American men. The unemployment rate remains the same, and no better relationship with the police. The cherry on top: discussions have been on the right to protest the flag---not social injustices.

Some people are not taking this form of protest lightly and are asking for owners of the NFL to put a stop to this. For one, if this song doesn't give you goosebumps, you're in the wrong country. Many have given their lives for the values this flag represents. This movement has now become a matter of patriotism, and in this country PATRIOTISM always prevails.

Over the weekend, President Trump addressed the issue by stating those who sit out should be fired--but he used the word SOB when doing it- which anger some. He also withdrew an invitation from Stephen Curry of The Golden State Warriors, who was hesitant in responding to an invite. His logic was simple: it should be an honor to be invited to the people's house.

Because of this, the Sport community felt the need to rally behind their teammates political views; some voiced their thoughts on twitter.

Kneeling for social justice awareness has now morphed into a public protest of President Trump. If you do not like Trump, you kneel. Wait--- I thought this was for social injustices?

This protest has extended to international lands, such as in London. This weekend, the Ravens and Jaguars sat out during the anthem-- but stood for “God Save the Queen”, the anthem of Britain-- who benefited the most from African slavery! Stuff like that makes ignorance shine.

One player stood out, literally, of the locker room, where the rest of his teammates decided to sit out the anthem. Alejandro Villanueva, a former Army Ranger. He served three tours in Afghanistan and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Valor. Patriots have rallied behind him and since then, sales for his jersey have skyrocket.

In times where whispers of war against N.Korea are amongst us, wouldn't it be nice if we all STOOD for our flag?
