Recent Dutch findings about flight MH 17, with 298 on board - shot down over Ukraine.
Professor van der Pijl, a Dutch professor at the University of Sussex examines the destruction and crash of the Boeing 777 from a geopolitical perspective and claims the US benefited most from the disaster. He recently wrote a book titled “The Launch: Flight MH17, Ukraine and New Cold War” (The German-language version- the English translation will be available by the end of the year).
He claims that the US benefited in that it subsequently imposed sanctions against Russia thereby undermining Russia's natural gas industry and putting the brakes on the increasing international sales of Russian natural gas. Curiousity about this event has re-ignited an interest in the tragedy and are flocking to Professor van der Pijl’s blog "Der Abschuss Flug MH17", which provides information about the book and links to his sources. His blog points out some absurd inconsistencies during the investigation, and the investigators’ stubborn reluctance to address some of the questions surrounding such as the professor noted:

He believes the US saw this as a challenge to the global financial status quo and rival to the IMF and World Bank. Also; Putin of Russia and Merkel of Germany had agreed on a new conceptual framework for resolving the Ukraine crisis without US input. Once the Boeing 777 crashed, American gas companies were suddenly able to start their own work in Europe and Russia was forced out of the EU market, and forced to abandon the construction of the South Stream gas pipeline through Ukraine. Ukraine, he says, subsequently became a pawn in the not-so-fun control games played by the West. Bold statements he claims are supported by evidence...
