The Ron Paul Experience 2008 Campaign As We Saw It

in #politics8 years ago

I have been going through the pictures on an old hard drive and had to resurrect some of these, this was history being made!

A few "Cliff notes" for you...
Lest you suspect I was merely paranoid back then, we got a few death threats, had cops shadow us everywhere... It was a scary time to be a Ron Paul supporter, let alone a truther. At both the State and National conventions, we booked our OWN rooms, paid cash and told no one where we were other than a few VERY trusted individuals. The note in the little guest book in our Cowboy Cabin at State was the "Easter egg" we left for future visitors!

Don Harkins, the Gentle Man who died rather suspiciously, wrote the article below. I have often suspected this was what he knew that was "too much." This is worth reading, perhaps even worth dying to share with humanity.

The final picture from the RNC, where Sarah Palin's big mug is on the screen was taken as my husband and I stormed out. They had introduced her like a makeover "reveal" scene, or like she won a beauty pageant or had just been crowned, or some weird combination of all three... By this time, Ron's campaign manager had thrown us ALL under the bus, the GOP had successfully stifled EVERY attempt to have a real discussion about any issues, and watching our fellow LIBERTY LOVERS hoot and holler for Caribou Barbie was more than we could take. In a vignette that remains this odd moment where I was both the most proud I have ever been of my husband and also quite embarrassed, he made a scene. That is usually my thing, but not that day. We handed our credentials to our alternates, we grabbed hands and headed for the bar with @longsilver yelling at the top of his lungs the entire way...
"THAT'S RIGHT! GO AHEAD. VOTE WITH YOUR PENIS!!"
Oh, I do love that man!

Those were wild years!!!! So glad there were many of us to do it together <3

I never considered myself a "truther" but I was a big Ron Paul fan. Despite his losses in 2008 and 2012 I really enjoyed that time period.

:) Do you consider yourself a liar? (Sorry, I have to do that when people say that!)
It was something, to be sure!

Good post, I am a fan.
