American Intifada

in #politics8 years ago

We're all familiar with the narrative – peaceful human rights activists protesting against vile and violent white supremacists. Apparently, some think this should change and peaceful protesters should arm themselves with rocks. And use them!

Segregationists have again assumed their pedestals in the Justice Department, the White House and many other American temples. Paper alone won’t drive them out. Start throwing rocks.

Coming soon to the city you live in!

The quote belongs to N. D. B. Connolly, History professor from Johns Hopkins University, and was published in The Washington Post.
The whole rambling article is disguised as a metaphor based on the ever-popular children's game Rock, paper, scissors. The way this guy sees it paper (peaceful protest) is not enough anymore. It's time for stronger means – rocks!
An interesting take on this article was published by Milo Yiannopoulos, equating throwing rocks with the practice of stoning and sharia law. A valid point, seeing that Alt-left militants have such high praise of the Islamic religion.
However, the image of people throwing rocks at their enemies reminds me of the Palestinian Intifada. Even Palestinian children throw rocks at Jewish soldiers (and are sometimes killed for that).

Not so peaceful protesters!

Yesterday, President Trump was heavily criticized for saying that some of the Alt-left protesters in Charlottesville were indeed carrying clubs. There was a general outcry on social media. How dare he suggest poor innocent human rights activists were armed with clubs? And then you have people like this History professor advocating throwing stones. This is not a game. A stone to the head can kill just as a bullet. In my opinion, this is a clear act of sedition and should be treated as such.

According to Wikipedia:

Sedition is overt conduct, such as speech and organization, that tends toward insurrection against the established order. Sedition often includes subversion of a constitution and incitement of discontention (or resistance) to lawful authority. Seditious words in writing are seditious libel. A seditionist is one who engages in or promotes the interests of sedition.

Some are more equal than others

A few days ago I wrote a post dealing with an American TV personality's open call to the military to remove Donald Trump from office. Just like that, remove him. No, this woman is not under investigation for seditious libel, as the law says. Nor will this Connolly guy be. Nor was Madonna investigated for her comments on setting the White House on fire.
(One instance where the sedition law was used is the case of Laura Berg, a nurse with a VA hospital in New Mexico. In 2005, Berg was investigated for sedition after writing a letter to the editor of a local newspaper, accusing Bush& Co of criminal negligence for the war in Iraq and the handling of Hurricane Katrina. Well, that woman was basically a nobody and she dared criticize George W. Bush.)

Michael Moore show

Another story that I find disturbing concerns national agitator-in-chief Michael Moore who was present at the protest in front of Trump Tower in New York. Moore told cheering protesters he was there to make a citizen's arrest and take Trump into custody. He also called on the policemen on duty there to give a hand and arrest Trump. On what charges? Well, who cares?

I've decided to write this rather long (sorry!) post because these are not isolated incidents.

This is a clear pattern that aims to convince public opinion not only of the need for civil disobedience, but mostof all of the need to remove Trump form office.

So far all calls for impeachment were groundless and some people are losing their patience. If they won't find legal means to get rid of Trump, I'm afraid he will share JFK's fate. And no one will even be surprised or outraged.

Well, the people hated him and he did ask for it!

Thanks for reading

It's the tolerance and encouragement of anarchy that disturbs me most. Because on person is detestable, the other should get a pass? Since when?

Since Trump won. In my country, a few years ago we had a president many people hated just as much Trump is hated. And we did try to get rid of him, democratically, by a national referendum. Guess who backed the guy and had him stay in office? The Obama administration!

Yes, this is all being orchestrated. A plan for the left and the right to burn down their own towns.

One big problem is that voting doesn't solve anything.

"If voting actually did anything, it would be illegal"

So, the real way out is to start building a society and a system that doesn't use that govern-cement. Make them irrelevant. And then you don't care if they go away.

Yes, personally, I gave up on voting since I realized it doesn't matter anyway. As for building another type of society I don't know how or if it can be done. I'm more of a pessimist myself.

Americans are spoiled brats. And this is how spoiled brats act.

I suggest everyone arm themselves (2nd amendment)

That would be wise, indeed. No wonder liberals seize upon every occasion to push for gun control.

any time your government wants to disarm you.
it has a reason to do so.
