Hello Ladies and Gentlemen from the Steemit community I am back and in full force. Now I’m sure you’ve all grown tired of hearing the endless babble about the state of american society, and the fate of the NFL. Regardless of the migraine you’ve been developing due to wave after wave of unfiltered opinions I’m going to give you my two cents. So, without further ado ladies and gentlemen here's patriotism through the lens of an anarchist.

In today's world technology gives us a lot of opportunities to learn, to connect, and to have fun. However in modern America technology, specifically social media has created a phenomenon I like to call, Self Expertism. It simply put is this radical idea that if you have an opinion on something you are the leading expert on the subject and should create a strong winded facebook post, or film an angry rant in your car whilst driving to work. During this controversy over a few young lads sitting during the Anthem I’ve observed a number of very strong winded facebook posts and questionable car rants. This is a blessing and a curse in american society, because of free speech (which I am by no means criticizing) people are able to participate in political debate. However often times I find that people know very little about politics or whatever subject they're expressing issue with. I mean these people that are carrying on about how people who disrespect the flag should be deported have probably never read the constitution let alone understand court cases like Texas V Johnson or Tinker V Des Moines. So I would say that this Self Expertism is actually contributing more the the problem rather than actually contributing to the solution. Mosty but Self Expertism’s tendency to be very opinionated without even citing laws, historical events, or just anything that is factual that backs up a person's argument. So, having said that I would like to move on with a simple statement. To my followers and whomever may read this by all means participate in political discourse, but for the love of god if you truly respect your opinions and ideas that give then present them in a professional manner and use facts to back up your arguments don’t just rely on mere emotion to push your narrative.

I’ve come to realize through this Most Biggest Issue Challenging The State Of America is that it’s actually quite the contrary. What has happened is that a few guys who felt strongly about some issue and decided to protest. This was of course further complicated by comments made by yours truly Trump causing a wave of other NFL members to kneel during the anthem. Now you can guess my stance on the issues if you’ve read any of my previous blogs so I’m not going to bore you with all that. However there are a few points I would like to make that I’ve heard a lot the past few days. First of all, yes in America you can legally burn the flag, it is protected nonverbal free speech. No, this is not Anti-american. There are any different ways a person can interpret a symbol, just because someone doesn’t share your particular view of a dogmatic symbol or practice DOES NOT MEAN THEY ARE RUDE, OR STUPID, OR ANTI AMERICAN.

Civil Disobedience involving a flag or ritual does not disrespect the troops. If you are in “the troops” and you are offended by someone burning their property then hello welcome to a constitutional republic that by and large respects free speech. The Troops did not fight and die for a flag, that’s idiotic, they fought and died for what that flag stands for which is up for interpretation. In reality they fought and died cause government told them to for money and cause Muh petro-dollar. If you hear someone say that Colin Kaepernick is “disrespecting American soldiers” all they are doing is using an identifiable group (military) that we've been taught to worship and respect. By using the troops they are virtue signalling that they have respect for this group and you, the dumb disrespectful millennial, has no respect for anything American. It’s nothing more than a usually successful emotional manipulation method that ironically the “conservatives” criticize the “liberals” for all the time.

All in all I completely understand if you're completely tired of this even being talked about. I just thought I'd give a fresh perspective of the issue and add some more context. I might actually do a part Two for this just going deep into the roots of nationalism and why this is even a problem for some people. As always ladies and gentlemen the comments are yours to dispose of I hope you enjoy the rest of your day. PEACE

Sort:

Nothing fresh about your rehashed left wing talking points.
No one is being forced to be Patriotic, we are asking them to respect our Patriotism. For a couple of minutes on Sunday, Stand there with your hand over your heart. No cares what you think. No one cares what you do on the other six days of the week. but on Sunday when I invite you into my livingroom. Show some fucking respect.

Well, again just because certain players don't share your particular dogmatic perceptions on patriotism does not make them disrespectful. If you are so interested in showing patriotism before a little game then Sunday night why don't you stand for the national anthem in your living room.

The free market has given the NFL a large audience throughout America, but it is voluntary. If you are so convinced that personal autonomy, and 1st amendment protections disappear during Sunday night football than
I suggest finding a different way to occupy your time.
