Politics Can Be Entertainment

Most of the time politics is a serious topic. Occasionally however something in politics comes along so outrageous it becomes entertaining. I think one of the most outrageous has to be Vermin Supreme. Vermin has been a presidential candidate every election since 2012. In 2020, Vermin is running as a Libertarian, but not your average Libertarian. Vermin's platform usually includes the positions of free ponies for everyone, solving our energy problems with zombie power, and federally mandated oral hygiene. In a good attempt but still coming in second, is Joe Biden's unique ability to stick his foot in his mouth. Pretty impressive for a man his age. Biden recently told a young climate change activist he started all the activities on climate change in 1987. That's up there with Al Gore's claim in 1997 to have created the internet. Everyone should remember Al Gore, he's the guy that made millions of dollars flying around in his private jet giving speeches about how the excessive use of petroleum fuels was going to destroy the planet.

The third story was about billionaire Robert F. Smith's generous donation to pay off all the student loan debt for the graduating class at Morehouse College. After hearing this, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) applauded the gesture but pointed out that students shouldn't have to rely on the generosity of others. Maybe in her mind generosity of others can be unreliable, not a sure thing like taking the money of others through taxes to pay for all the student's college costs. I can't help but wonder how those students (and their families) that made it to graduate from Morehouse without incurring student loans feel about the generosity. I would think it would be similar to how those immigrants that worked legally to become citizens feel when those who came into the country illegally are granted citizenship. There's nothing like seeing others being rewarded when you did the right thing.

Politics isn't always serious. Sometimes it's so stupid you can't do anything but laugh about it.
