Our Village gathering
Day before, I was informed by our society chairman that the MLA (Member of the Legislative Assembly) is going to be around in our area and going to make a speech on the developments made in the area that he is responsible for. I thought it was important to join to know what's happening around. As it is I am away most of the time from this Village home so while I am here I should take the opportunity. I thought it would be a small gathering but when I reached there, I was surprised with all the arrangement. It was a big set up and there were dinner arrangements also after his speech.
He was going to be felicitated with an extra ordinary big garland, which I was confused was for him or for a building. It was so big that I cannot imagine a person wearing it. Later I checked with my driver and he told me that he would only stand in front of it and pose. What a waste of money :-( to satisfy his ego. The main reason for me to go was also that our society roads are still not done up, and they are very rough, I wanted to know if there was any update on that part. He did mention about the road development, but did not clearly mention if it was for our society or not. Like a true politician he gave round and round talks leaving everyone wondering as to what and where exactly it will be done.
I assume this way they can easily put their hands up from any accountability. So if tomorrow things do not happen, they can say, we never mentioned your society, though they are mentioning the names of the roads, but till what distance and all is unclear. So let's see what it's going to be in the end in real. I had thought it would be a small gathering so I may get a chance to ask him questions, but it was a very big affair, and I was on the last row. Typically these people come late and make the public waiting, so knowing that I reached there late. By that time the full seating area was almost occupied except for the last few rows. Good I left late, because even after me reaching there late, his speech had not started.

There is loud drumming and total noise pollution. Even while he was giving a speech these people were playing the drums loudly and it was so difficult to hear. Pheww....all in the name of publicity.
And here the real show is happening
The gathering got so huge that only the ladies and children were allowed to sit inside and the men were standing.
As soon as his speech got over, I left. I guess it was more then enough drama for me to handle in a single day.
