An American Separation?
As soon as Roe was overturned, abortion was illegal in many states and heavily restricted in others. Earlier in the year, Florida passed a "Don't Say Gay" law. Permitless carry of firearms is legal in many states, with more soon to follow. Arizona just passed a law making it illegal to record police.
I wonder more and more if the gap between progressive states and reactionary states has reached a breaking point. Like the well-educated man who thought he could civilize a woman like Mama June from Here Comes Honey Boo-Boo, or the woman who thought she could get Joe Dirt to pass as a gentleman. It lasts awhile, but eventully she needed her cigarettes and Pabst Blue Ribbon, and he needs his guns and meth.
Like a relationship, a divorce or a break-up should be the last straw. A separation may be a first step. For the United States, this could be economic. States like Oregon and Washington and Northern California, Minnesota and Illinois, and New York and the other New England States could agree to no longer conduct business, or limit dealings with states like Alabama, Texas, Kentucky and Florida.
This economic pressure may get reactionary states to slow thier roll or even roll back legislation. The voters may become fed up to the point where they begin voting out QAnon or "Big Lie" candidates. The other option is the targeted states may double down and pass more reactionary legislation.
At that point, economic separation might need to become political. The progressive states would become separate nations that could negotiate among themselves or perhaps be absorbed into Canada. The reactionary states would be on their own, or find themselve sanctioned or be subject to tarriffs and taxes.
All empires have reached their end and many times that end led to a breaking point. The United States may be no different.
Cracking The Safe
On July 4, 2022, I completed my 1st successful penetration or infiltration of a computer. I used Rescatux to clear the administrative password and gain access to my late Aunt's desktop.
I feel a bit like an archeologist who has opened a tomb or a treasure hunter who has opened a chest. There are pictures I need to go through, and music to exfiltrate. The computer may have census records and other documents from my ancestors.
Once I have the data I need out, the next stage can begin. I will wipe the system and either see if a profressive non-profit can use it or look at turning the desktop into a LINUX box, maybe to act as a server for an internet radio station.
