11# - ONE MIN BOOK SUMMARY - Law 9: Win Through Your Actions - Never Through Argument - The 48 laws of Power (Robert Greene)
Any success you think you have gained through argument is in reality a tasteless and costly victory.
WHY?
Because the resentment you've created in your opponent's heart is stronger and lasts longer than any momentary change of opinion.
YES,
It is much more powerful and durable to get others' agreement through your actions, without saying a word.
Argumentation is a waste of time. And i would even say : Intellectual masturbation.
Sometimes, the action itself can be deceptive in the sense that people are waiting for your actions, even the slightest one.
Let me give you an example.
Piero Sorderini, Firenze's mayor, told Michelangelo that the nose on his sculpture, of a young David with sling in hand was too big.
Michelangelo did not argue that the nose was just right, but took the mayor near the statut and acted like he was changing the nose.
