Control is simply an illusion

Though it would be comforting to find yourself in control and have a firm grip on your destiny, you can drive yourself crazy trying to achieve that control. Life is simply what happens to you and how you choose to react is the only thing you really control. You can control your emotions (which is a great discipline) to be able to think rationally and decide your course of action with a clear mind. You can keep your eyes on your goals and act according to your morals and principals and get where you want to go. Whether you get there in your desired time really is up to the cosmic roll of the dice and how well you decide to navigate the twists and turns on the road.

The only thing you really can control is how you react to each situation life throws at you.

So, my advice is to acknowledge we are blazing down an ice-covered hill in a greased saucer toboggan. We really can't dictate what happens along the way and the situations we will face. So focus upon harnessing your emotions, and control how you react to each situation like a boss. A bunch of good and rational decisions is what will take you to places you seek, or places you never thought possible. Surround yourself with people who do the same.
