Do you need an application layer to manage users voting only one way on a binary choice? Or do you just allow double dippers to cancel themselves out on the prediction front?
It would definitely be nice to build up an application layer in order to simplify the experience and to provide individual scoring, open predictions, leaderboards, etc.... There's a lot that could be done.
I don't think double-dipping should be prevented though. A strategy might emerge where a voter wants to vote with a low percentage on one option and a higher percentage on the other. Especially if there are more than 2 choices. That even opens the way to implement something like ranked choice voting.
(Plus, I think it's impossible to block it at the base layer, so trying to block it at the application layer might create an opportunity for cheating.)
Yeah, I remembered about percentages a little while after I commented that. It does make sense to leave it as a potential strategy.
