Note: If you are a newbie, and you want to be personally mentored on steemit through steemcollege, to enable you develop yourself and increase your earnings here on steemit, reply to this post with your whatsapp number, so that you can be added to the steemcollege whatsapp group.
Benefits of joining steemcollege
You will be personally mentored by us on how to organize your post, how to comment, the secrets to increasing your chances of getting your post and comment upvoted, and so much more.
You will get regular notification on whatsapp on posts that will earn you rewards.
You can ask us any question that you need clarification on.
In my previous post, I shared about my visit to Ikorodu, Lagos state, where I introduced some students to steemit, (who are my first set of students at Steemcollege, where they will be taught on the various terminologies and aspects of steemit, the ethics of steemit ( which includes things to avoid, for example begging for followers, begging for upvotes ), the right way to comment, and also talking about other parts of the steemit platform which we have gained from our experience here on steemit, and also from the textbook for this college, which would be Steemit 101.)
P.S - This text book was not written by us, but by @donkeypong, @cryptoctopus, @stellabelle, and @steemship.
Am glad to announce that 5 of the students we spoke to during the last seminar have gotten their accounts activated and have begun their mentorship training at steemcollege. Two other steemians joined us by submitting their whatsapp numbers to our previous post.
These are the first steemit members of steemcollege:
@chiomabest, @emmapraiz, @henry26, @orisfina, and @promise24.
Much more have signed up on steemit, and are awaiting their account activation.
Previously, we decided that the mentorship at steemcollege would be a two-day program where we would meet every two days, but we noticed that it would not be really effective for the minnows, and it was really expensive to rent the place to meet every two-days for now.
So we came up with another plan. We decided that we would embark on steemit one-on-one awareness tours in various universities, introducing students to steemit, and getting them registered on the steemit platform.
We chose the one-on-one method over the group seminar presentation method, because the one-on-one method makes the conversation more personal, and less lecture-like. This creates an atmosphere where the people we speak to can easily ask as much questions as they want, not being shy, so that they can fully understand the workings of the platform.
This is in line with our vision, which is to spread the word about steemit and also grow the steemit platform, by providing newbies with the necessary mentorship and guidance to help facilitate their steemit growth. This method can be really really stressful, but because of its potential impact on newbies and on steemit at large, we are willing to make this sacrifice.
After the awareness, we would help the audience sign up on steemit.com, and then get their whatsapp details as we await their account activation. It is through this whatsapp number that we would use to carryout the personal steemcollege training. We would train steemians by communicating with them on whatsapp, where we would give them a thorough guidance, and mentorship. Then after their first month of steeming, we would then host a steemit meetup/steemcollege graduation.
The aim of this meetup/graduation will be to:
Meetup and talk about our experiences during our first month of steeming, and ways to make steemcollege better.
Discuss about ideas we can come up with to make the steemit platform a better platform.
Introduce new people to the steemit platform, and assign them to the new steemcollege graduates, so that their followup can be more effective.
Finally, discuss about projects we can undertake in our various communities, to make the life those around us better, projects like free medical services, free skills empowerment especially for under-educated women, and so on.
Note: This meetup is also open to all already existing steemians. Anyone can come network and also discuss their steemit journey so far, and how we all can help make steemit a better platform.
INTRODUCING STEEMIT ALBUM
Before we talk about the steemit awareness campus one-on-one tour, we would like to talk about Steemit album. Steemit album is an Invention (smiling) we made ourselves, and of which we are proud of. Don't worry there is no copyright on this one. Any steemian can make one and use it to easily spread the word about steemit. A mention of our username (@positivethinker) will be nice though.
Steem album is a hardcover album that contains large pictures of the steemit platform, and also explanations on how the platform operates.
Steem album was born as a solution to the electricty problem we face here in Africa, which is a setback to us easily showcasing to our audience through a projector the steemit platform and how it operates. But through this portable album, we would no longer be hindered by the lack of electricity or additional cost of renting a projector. We can easily show a group of as much as 10 people per time how the platform works.
Also, for us and our method of speading the word about steemit through one-on-one awareness, this would be far better than using a projector since it is portable and easy to handle, as compared to speaking to a group of more than 10 people per time, where you will obviously need a projector.
NOTE: This album is used only for the steemit one-on-one awareness and not for the steemcollege mentorship. We will carryout the main steemcollege training on whatsapp, where we will go more indepth into the steemit training.
Here are more pictures of the steem album.
This picture is our feed page @positivethinker. Here we show the audience what the feeds page stands for and what it looks like. We also explain what trending, hot, and new all stand for.
Here we explain to the audience the 3 ways to make on steemit, which are:
Blogging
Conmmenting
Curating
For we here in Nigeria, prospective steemians might want to know how to get their SBD from steemit into their Nigerian bank account. Steemexchanger.ng is a very reliable automated exchanger we have used for close to a month now. It is owned by a group of professionals under the username @steemexchanger .Through their website your can get your SBD exchanged for Nigerian Naira, paid directly into your Nigerian bank account in less than 5mins.
Here, I use my blog as an example to show the audience that you can actually earn by producing good content.
Finally, this page is where the audience can ask any question regarding any issue on steemit.
Now, back to what we wanted to talk about, which was that we conducted our first steemit awareness campus one-on-one outreach at Rivers state University, Portharcourt, Rivers state, Nigeria, Africa. It was a huge success, and we got close to 30 people interested in steemit.
I left Abeokuta, Ogun state for Portharcourt, Rivers state and arrived around 3:30 PM GMT. The image above is the motor park at Abeokuta, Ogun state, Nigeria. After arriving, I had to look for a good hotel to lodge in, and I found a really good and affordable one called Peacelan hotel.
The next day, I headed over to the first university I would be carrying out the steem awareness outreach - Rivers state University, Portharcourt, Nigeria. The school is a very nice place to be. The students were really warm and encouraging. Here are some pictures of nice buildings in the school.
The pictures above show the university main gate, with the name of the university boldly written on it. I wish I could write the word STEEMIT boldly on that gate. LOL
This is the centre where the foundation stone of the university was laid. Its a really nice place to behold.
As a christian, I just had to take a picture of the university chapel. the architecture was one that got my attention.
The pictures above are pictures of the Senator Francis John Ellah administration building.
Having shown some buildings I really liked in the school, let me now show some pictures on how my steemit awareness outreach went. I decided to visit two faculties each day, for a period of two days. The two faculties I visited on the first day were Faculty of Management Sciences, and Faculty of Engineering. I spoke to some of the students in these two faculties, and around 10 of them indicated interests in joining steemit, and signed up.
Yah, that how the first day of my two-day stay at Rivers state university went. We now await the activation of the accounts of the newly registered steemians above. Hope you had a lovely read, expect more posts on my steemit awareness outreach here in Africa.
Note: We do all this, to help support the development and advancement of both steemians, and the steemit platform as a whole. More than 50% of newbies that join steemit quit due to lack of encouagement. We are here to help them and keep them steeming. For facts on the importance of our wok, visit this post made by @arcange , which can be found here. All the best.
Wow... great one @positivethinker your commitment in ensuring the lives of youth across and around you is elevated is highly commendable..
we need to re-dress the minds of African youth not only to depend on the government for everything, but they themselves could become who they intend to be through Steemit as the platform helps in the elevation of poverty across its users!..
Thumbs up once again... Steemit all the way!...
Thanks @jayboss. Your comment is surely a breath of fresh air.
