Proverbial #11: If you keep looking back when you run, you will inevitably trip and fall.

This world was not given to us on a platter of gold. The world is full of ups and downs and we learn from many mistakes. These mistakes sum up the experiences we have about life and certain things.

Some people dwell more on the past. They ask questions on why certain things happened some years back. Some of these people find it very hard to even focus on present not to talk of future.

The title above is a Yoruba (a tribe in Nigeria) proverb that tells us to be focused. We sometimes pay attention to irrelevant things and get distracted by these things.

Distraction is one thing that can stop any man from reaching his destination. We are imperfect beings and we display these imperfections on a daily basis. So when things go wrong, instead of us to wallow in pity, we should pick ourselves up and continue from where we stopped.

Imagine someone running looking back. The person will fall, might not get to his destination at all or very late and importantly injure himself by falling from such folly exercise.

Whatever your yesterday was, it should not weigh you down or make you to fail. These distractions are part of us and they make sure they stay relevant in our lives. Students for instance are distracted by parties or joining big girls/boys. These activities take most of the time they ought to spend reading their books on things that wont add any value to their lives.

We need to always pick ourselves up and focus our energy on that destination. Proper planning will yield proper result.

The purpose of this proverb is to tell you to refocus your energy on what will make you productive instead of wasting your time on distractions. Run looking forward so that you can reach your destination on time.
