WHY are psychedelics illegal???

If people sat down and put as much time into learning about psychedelics and the consciousness as i have the past few months, then i am CERTAIN that we would all come to the agreement that we have been wrong. That we have been led to believe our entire lives that these substances are harmful and have no positive effects on humanity.
There was a time not long ago when i was blind to the reality of psychadelics, when i was adament that they were BAD and there was no more to it than that. When i FINALLY stopped and took a step back from everything the media, government and even family was telling me, i began to ask myself "WHY are they illegal? WHY are they so harmful? What have they done to society that is so detrimental that we must avoid them at all costs?" Once i began to explore these questions i quickly came to the realisation that there really is no answer, because everything we are told is simply incorrect. The amount of scientific research we have on these drugs is still obscenely tiny in comparison to what there is left to learn; when these substances were made illegal the research was next to none. How can society really accept the "fact" that psychadelics are harmful and should be illegal when we have almost no research into the reasons WHY they should be considered so.
Recent research infact has began to prove the exact opposite of what we have been taught our entire lives. Research carried out has PROVEN that psychedelics CAN and DO have a positive and profound effect on humanity and our emotional stability. My question now is why on earth people do not see this and continue to conform to the false opinions and beliefs that these drugs are negative. I believe i now have the answer to this question, or im pretty close.
Growing up, no matter what our background or situation, culture or class, we are taught by those around us. We are taugh to walk, speak, eat, use the toilet, how to decifer between right and wrong, how to be kind, how not to be kind, and everything inbetween. We are brought up to mirror those who have nurtured us and taught us. But not often do we stop to think for ourselves, to explore concepts and ideas in a different way, to even begin to form opinions and beliefs that differ from those around us. This is PART of the reason why so many people are blind to the increasinly exposed truth behind psychadelics.
In order to understand the reason why this is an issue in the first place, we must first ask ourselves why we are brought up this why, why we are led to believe false "facts."
Our lives our governed by other people, we have no control over what we do, think or believe. Well, we 100% have control over these, but many people don't use this control and so act as if they have none. Society is consistently fed informatioin through media and government, so that we will understand THEIR thought processes and conform to what we THINK is "right." Another problem with society is that rarely do we consider the fact that these people telling us what is right and wrong, may be wrong themselves. Perhaps they are distributing false information without the knowledge that it is false, or perhaps they are doing so KNOWINGLY and we are blindly going along with it.
Reality is, science PROVES that psychedelics are not harmful to society or people, not in comparison to other illict drugs or even those that are legal around the world. Government almost forces us into false belief systems in order for us to fit into what they would consider to be "right" or "good" human beings. They are illegal because government wants us to believe the lies that we have been fed for the last however many years, so that we do not gain a true knowledge of consciousness and self worth. They need us to conform in order to run "their" country how THEY see fit, regardless of how much truth is actually being portrayed. We are puppets, and the only way to break free is for us to finally understand that. The world will always have leaders, some good and some bad, some false and sone true, but it is us in society that have the ultimate say. We must obey the laws and regulations, but that doesn't mean we must believe the lies and false truths that we are told, and it doesn't mean that we must hide our TRUE beliefs and understandings of the world and psychedelics. We can be individual whilst still following the croud, you just have to learn how.

~FYI: I have never once tried or even gone near any psychadlic substances and yet i am still able to begin to decifer what is truth and what is false.
