SLC S29W1 - Mind & learn: The psychology journey "Control your emotions".

Hi, I've had a lot of trouble uploading my post due to platform issues, however, I've finally been able to upload it now.

Task 1: Keep a journal, write down your negative emotions and thoughts in a journal, express your thoughts.

TITLE:

An unexpected verbal attack that left me speechless.

STORY:

One ordinary morning, like any other, I was at the geography department of my university. It had rained heavily the night before in the Venezuelan capital, so the weather was very humid and cold. I arrived very early, as did several of my classmates, and we had to wait (as usual) in the hallway until 7:00 a.m. to go to class. We always gathered there before class, and we all joked and talked while we waited for it to start.

I had a very close friend there; we got along really well. That day, while we were talking, he said, in a rather crude joke, that my jacket was dirty and that I had already worn it a couple of times that week, asking if I wasn't going to wash it.

The rest of my classmates laughed, and even some people I didn't know who were nearby.

I was shocked, perplexed. I hadn't expected that kind of attack (or that kind of teasing) from such a close friend.

THOUGHTS:

My first thought was: Wait a minute, this can't be true. How could my friend attack me like that and make me the butt of his jokes?

We've shared so much, and all those moments of friendship mean nothing to him?

However, I didn't respond rudely. I simply laughed subtly and held back from reacting, even though the blow had stung. A few seconds later, I replied: You're right, it's quite dirty and smells bad. I'll wash it soon. People continued laughing for a few seconds, and then it all ended there, including the way I perceived that "friendship."

LESSON:

The lesson is that you shouldn't trust anyone, even people you think are your friends can attack or mock you at any time. It's important to keep this in mind, because if it ever happens again with another friend, you'll be able to control your emotions more easily and respond subtly and politely, without it affecting you too much.

[Sun Series: Literary Works]

Task 2: Prepare your mind, take your favorite book, continue reading about the topic, and write a detailed account of it when you finish. Tell us which book you are reading and take a picture.

I actually think I have many favorite books, but most of them are in PDF format and digital. Of the books I own in physical form, one of my favorites is a small book of short stories and literary tales.

The book's title is SUN SERIES: LITERARY WORKS, VOLUME 1. It's a 128-page book published by Romor.

I love it because it contains a good number of very entertaining short stories and has many illustrations. Also, the pages are glossy, shiny, and smooth, which is something I appreciate in a book.

In it, you'll find a good summary of The Little Prince by Exupéry, The Nightingale and the Rose by Oscar Wilde, and several traditional stories and fables from my country.

I always have a great time reading the stories in this book; they take me back to my childhood. I've had this book since the end of elementary school, and I'm very fond of it.

Task 3: Read the story mentioned above and express your own opinion.

[The book I have chosen]

In a terrible situation where there is famine or the risk of famine, the ideal thing is for everyone to try to help each other, as a community (both rich and poor, since we are all part of society; I feel it is a moral obligation).

However, one of the powerful businessmen (Harun) refused to cooperate, even though he had signed an agreement.

The truth is, I completely agree with what happened. Harun's son certainly died because the city's doctors refused to help him; certainly, Harun's son was not to blame for his father's decisions, who refused to help the people.

But if we look at it from the other side, many children were also dying of hunger, and Harun didn't care. Many children and the children of humble people were dying and suffering while Harun, with a deaf ear, paid no attention and didn't care at all.

A kind of "justice" was served to Harun; However, it was probably (we don't know for sure) an injustice to Harun's son if he didn't support his father.

Likewise, Harun committed a great injustice against the people and all the children who died and suffered from the famine; that's my opinion.

Task 4: Create an infographic about the five steps of emotion control.

[Infographic]

Steps for Emotional Control:

Step 1: I believe the first step is to remain calm, always remain calm, in any situation. It seems easy, but it isn't.

Step 2: Next, recognize which emotion is affecting you at that moment (sadness, fear, anger, hatred...).

Step 3: Then, analyze the emotion and why that situation is generating it.

Step 4: Subsequently, analyze what the appropriate response would be for that moment (both physical and verbal). It should be a light or "gentle" response that doesn't allow the situation to escalate due to that emotion.

Step 5: Finally, let go of that emotion as quickly as possible so that it doesn't affect your physical or mental health.

I invite my friends @paholags, @crisvera, and @ciru2014 to join the challenge in its first week. Warm regards to all, and blessings to everyone.

¡Congratulations!
