Jigsaw puzzles are having a moment of increased popularity.

Coming with that, there seems to be a difference in how puzzles are perceived. Instead of just a means to pass time, they're also a way for people to unplug and unwind.

Sara Patterson, assistant manager of the Barnes & Noble at Glenbrook Square, has seen an increase in jigsaw puzzle sales as people look for alternatives to apps, video games and TV.

“America is becoming more aware of the negative effects that screen time is having on our children, adults and our relationships,” she says. “I feel that we are trying to find engaging ways to spend time together and ways that engage our minds without the use of a screen.”
