Sycamore: Google's Quantum Supremacy Breakthrough
Last week on Nature Google officially announced they have achieved quantum supremacy.
They claimed that their 54 qubit quantum processor sycamore surpassed the fastest supercomputer by performing a task that will take a supercomputer 10,000 years in 200 seconds.

IBM, the company that operates the supercomputer that Google claims to have beaten retorted by saying that the problem could be solved in just 2.5 days using a different classical technique but as of this moment that paper hasn't been reviewed, if this claim is true it could reduce Google's feat in the quantum world.
"Quantum supremacy has long been seen as a milestone because it proves that quantum computers can outperform classical computers", said Martinis a Google scientist
Quantum computers work in a totally different way from classic computers just as a light bulb isn't a better candle, classic computers work with bits which can be either 0 or 1 but quantum computers are based on the laws of quantum physics so that means that a qubit (quantum bit) can exist in multiple states at once.
Scientists believe that our knowledge of quantum computing if perfected can be used in high-end encryption and even the sci-fi teleportation.
