How did you learn another language?

 In this modern society, there´s little doubt than speaking more than just one language is very helpful, as doing so can help you to open up the gates of your life for exciting things, like making new friends or getting a better job. So, I´ve got a question for you, my bilingual or polyglot friends. How did you learn to speak another language(s)? Did you live in a foreign country, took language classes at school, learned online or how? I am waiting to read your replies.
