Bible quote: It is better to listen to wise people who reprimand you than to fools who sing your praises. Ecclesiastes 7:5
Wisdom is important for a simple reason: human beings live in a universe governed by ethical laws. Wisdom is not merely beautiful or desirable, but strictly necessary because decisions have progressive effects, and when mistakes are not controlled, the long-term consequences are unpredictable. The prophets in the Bible, with their ancient wisdom, always remind men of one of the most important ethical laws for decision-making, the universal law of sowing and reaping, a law of balance: "They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind" Hosea 8:7.
The science of wisdom always teaches that human decisions are either right or wrong; there is no middle ground. This is why being precise and accurate when choosing is so necessary, the problem of progressiveness rewards or punishes, and this is especially true when everyone develops concealment strategies. The wise understand this truth with their hearts, because they are people ordered to the truth, but fools reject it because they follow their passions and their own fleeting desires, the opposition between wise and foolish people is a constant theme in the holy scriptures.
And this problem that wisdom develops in its study is so important that the Bible gives its readers a beautiful quote to always keep in mind: "It is better to listen to wise people who reprimand you than to fools who sing your praises" Ecclesiastes 7:5.
The goal of wisdom is not personal happiness, the typical selfish desire, nor the acquisition of material gain, but life itself. This is why the advice of the wise, even rebuke, is so necessary; this is what the Bible teaches with this wonderful advice. Avoid the traps of fools and seek the counsel of the wise—this is one of the most profound thoughts in the sapiential literature, constantly expressed in its verses: "Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm" Proverbs 13:20. The sapiential literature, of which the Book of Ecclesiastes written by King Solomon is a part, is so important that the spiritual teachings of Jesus about the Kingdom of God are a continuation of the sapiential literature with their valuable guidance for living.
