How To Cook Timpan - Typical Aceh Food

Today I can not wait to share the activities I did yesterday ..
As we know Indonesia is very famous for its cultural and culinary diversity, for that let us go to the city of Serambi Mecca of Aceh.

Yesterday I made a typical cake aceh "TIMPAN" have you ever tasted this cake? Yes .. this cake is a cake that is liked by the aceh community in general. This cake will be very much you meet when the big days of Islam in aceh such as Idul Fitri holidays, feast of Eid al-Adha, Maulid Prophet etc. But do not worry, if you want to taste this cake you do not have to wait for these times because you can also make it yourself at home, here I will explain how to make it.

Materials needed (coating material):

  • 200 gr pumpkins
  • 300 gr glutinous rice flour
  • ½ ltr coconut milk
  • Set a teaspoon of salt
  • Young coconut leaves are cut into small plots
  • Eat oil

Material contents :

  • One grated coconut
  • 250 grams of sugar
  • 2 pieces of pandan leaves
  • Little pieces of cinnamon (to add fragrant)

How to make :

1.Cook the ingredients fill with the way the grated coconut input into the pan with medium heat, sugar input, also pandan leaves and cinnamon bits stir until sugar dissolves with coconut

2.Boil the pumpkin with coconut milk and half a teaspoon of salt and wait until the pumpkin is tender and crushed

3.Cool the cooked yellow squash

4.Place the sticky rice flour over a large place for easy stirring
Mix the sticky rice flour with yellow pumpkin until cooked evenly and have an easy texture in shape

5.Allow the dough for a while,The round shape of the dough as much as I usually want to make 1 ½ tablespoons

6.Apply coconut leaves that have been prepared with oil to eat and put the dough that has been in the form on the banana leaf, and input half a scoop of grated coconut that has been cooked

7.After all the dough has been wrapped, steam tank for about 45 minutes.

8.Lift and serve the timpan.

Timpan a lot in love by the aceh community because it feels the legit and sweet, there is a separate sensation when eating timpan that starts from opening the wrapper and when we bite the cake timpan. Storing the bite will stick in the mouth and very chewy. This timpan cake is perfect for serving with warm tea in the morning to start the activity. Pumpkin as a material to make timpan also serves to maintain digestion because it has a high enough fiber and keeps us from various diseases such as constipation, hemorrhoids and also as a healthy diet solution to control cholesterol.

Usually a cake timpan will be sold at prices ranging from Rp. 1000- Rp. 2000, cheap enough is not it? With a very affordable price in addition to feeling the pleasure of this cake we can also feel the various benefits of cake timpan.
