Celebrating Buwan Ng Wika 2025
Dear Diary,
Early in the morning, we assemble in our classroom. I took pictures of my pupils who gracefully wears their costumes. When it's the Month of Language (Buwan Ng Wika), usually we wears National Costumes or any Filipino attire.
I had a hard time uploading some of the photos, I don't know what happen to the platform, it always UPLOAD FAILED. But let me describe a little bit about our dress culture. For the woman, baro at saya ( long skirt and blouse ) while the man mostly long sleeve or a formal barong tagalog. They look so pretty in their attire and I know their parents are proud on them. We started our class still at 7am then we wait for the others. I was excited when someone came and was amazed by their chosen attire. I let them settle while waiting for the others. We had photo opportunity with my pupils then I prepare the foods that they bring.
I am overwhelmed by the support given by the parents because they are generous enough to bring food to share for everyone. I just told the pupils yesterday to bring Filipino foods to share and these are some foods they bring;
- Biko ( cake rice)
- Puto cheese (Filipino cupcake)
- Bihon with egg
- Budbud (glutinous rice with coconut milk)
- Cassava cake
- Glutinous puto
- Cooked banana
- Yellow banana
- Cooked sweet potato
- Bread
- Cake
- Fruit salad
I equally distributed the food to them. They patiently waited. At 9:00am we eat the foods together. I let them wash their hands and pray before eating. We eat together while watching tv. I am happy that they are organized while eating. I let them enjoy the foods and if they want to get more, I invited them to get again on the table.
At 9:30 am we went down on the school ground and watch the opening program of the Buwan Ng Wika Culmination. There is a short program showcasing Filipino folk dances and songs from Grades 1 to 6. It's very crowded and we have nothing to sit. We go back to our classroom at 10:30 after the short program. We clean the classroom together then I dismissed them at 11am.
Before lunch time, there are also a presentation of foods per grade level. We call it Fiest of the Town or the Fiesta sa Nayon. There are many foods presented and I am delighted to try each of it but I am pregnant and I am controlling my food.
I still have foods left on my classroom and I bring it to my mother's house since my husband is still picky on the food he wants to eat.
This has been my diary game today, I am inviting @natz04 and @kyrie1234 to write your diary, too.
Truly yours,
@jes88
