RE: Tales From the Cash Register

in #retail7 years ago

My best story of "being looked down on for being a woman" was when I worked as a flight simulator technician in denver.

My customer was an instructor pilot.
My job was to keep the sim running smoothly for his training time with his crew. So if something glitched during the flight, he was supposed to report it to me so I could figure out what to do.

He seemed to think that since I was I woman that i had no idea how airplanes fly or how basic electronics worked. 😑

So, one night, him and his crew are up on motion and he calls my desk and says the sim is glitching and he wants me to send "one of the other guys".
Well, the other guys are busy so it's just little old me.

Pilot is not happy to see me but explains rather gruffly that the audio has completely cut out and obviously the sim needs to be reset.

I tell him I just need to check a few things first.. he goes nuts.

Calling me a stupid woman, saying he would report me to my supervisor..

I start to look past him as my eyes glaze over and realize, much to my delight, that this arrogant mother fucker had at some point pressed the MUTE button, probably to talk to his crew during a lesson.

I stop him from talking by snapping my attention back to him and holding his gaze until he backed off. Then I slowly reached behind his head to the panel and pushed the button.

The cabin sounds came roaring back and i simply said, " A sim reset would never have fixed that. Next time, unmute before you waste my time. " and i bid them a safe flight. 😆

YAAAAAAAAAS that is epic! I love when they drown in their own arrogance. You could have put on sunglasses or taken them off after that line.
