My partner has been planning to retire for three years... It's a process where the first step has been considered back and forth, but not yet taken (reducing working hours). I'm hoping for 2026. Perhaps with a bit more personal time and less pressure, it will work out now.
Three years is about how long it took for me, too. It wasn't so easy, hitting that button--after all, it's been well over 40 years since I didn't have a full time job! Some of those were really lean years, and not having a reliable income has always terrified me. But I think we'll make it work.
