"Taken 2" by Olivier Megaton - movie review
In 2008 Liam Neeson's "Taken" career took an unexpected turn and gripped the solid in the waters of the classic action packed with a lot of gunfire and a lot of thugs. His character, Brian Mills, definitely liked the viewers who were obviously captivated by the idea of having an anxious relative with the ability to crush a foreign nation to relieve his loved ones from the paws of dark Balkan subjects. For Luc Besson (producer and co-scriptwriter), the $ 200 million earnings were the only necessary incentive to roll up our sleeves and match us the month-long sequel titled "Taken 2".
Besson can reasonably think about renaming his company and calling her Disposable heroes (interchangeable heroes). Outside of Hollywood's bosom, Besson is definitely the producer of the capital"P", who firmly relies on the formula for easily digested eye chewing gums, in which the central role is entrusted to a charismatic man ("Columbia" is a variation with a woman and draws on the early works of Besson, when Uncle Luke was still a respected director), who sowed death and ruin after him, and the audience managed to count the exact number of carcasses received a tap on the shoulder and a praise for awake memory. After the exhaustion of the "Transporter" series, they followed "From Paris with Love" and the space-based "Maximum Security," which may be fiction, but certainly there are less fantastic moments than "Taken 2".
The movie moves completely along the pattern of the first part. We have 15-20 introductory minutes for filming, which this time kills more than a comedy, then begins the actual destruction in the streets of another metapolis - Istanbul. The miseries are again of Albanian origin and are relatives of the foolishly perished mutters from the first part. If the third series continues in the same direction, there is a strong chance that the entire male population of Albania will go under the knife. As a matter of fact, we have to admit that this time Neeson's hero needs some help, and the game includes a fragile daughter who hastily raises the speed and starts grinding grenades to and fro, and at one point even discovers his inner self "On a World Rally Championship, and flips a raving race across the streets of Istanbul behind the taxi wheel (a slight wink at another popular Besson series).
Besson is not limited to borrowing from his own work and most impressively copied a scene from the independent hit Drive, in which Maggie Grace watches his phone's timer, while the background sounds Tick of the Clock of Chromatics. The more gentle will be the addition of one more track from the Drive soundtrack, which also sneaks in the "Taken 2" scene. He apparently asks Besson to direct a nice movie again, but unfortunately he's already stuck in the commercial, and it's not likely to ever be real competition for Refen.
Despite the lack of genuineness in his performance, "Taken 2" is one of the better suggestions for the wide-ranging use of cinemas this year. For starters, the film is just under 90 minutes and lacks narrative parts that have just killed any life in Born's Heritage. The action is also in abundance, and luckily it is not shot with a foolishly moving camera that can cause searcher illness to the viewers with weaker stomachs. We have all the elements of a classic action - firefighting, car chase (in which it is clear that either the Turkish police are riding in absolute terms, or the cars have bought cars for crashing from the nearest car) and a final battle between the main character and the Albanian fervent who only manages to resist Mr Mills.
As a whole, "Taken 2" does not hide any surprises (whether pleasant or unpleasant) and the audience will get exactly what they want - absolutely unforgiving entertainment that is forgotten when it end. And there is an obvious interest in such entertainment, because the film has already rolled over $ 100 million globally and is about to surpass the achievement of the original. A result that seems to postpone the retirement of Neeson from the role of Brian Mills. Hopefully only the third series is not yet a rehearsed version of the original idea, because warranty will spoil more of a parody than an action-packed ruthless protagonist.
