Spiritual development: Always do the right thing, and you will live; keep on doing wrong, and you will die. Proverbs 11:19

Personal spiritual development does not consist in seeking self-help books or supposed mystical masters; to grow spiritually means to make wisdom the true companion in every act of life. Those who choose to ignore wisdom and its true power can only dedicate themselves to listening to pretty lies or to superficial answers that, like a spiritual analgesic, seek to cure a serious ailment of the human soul. And this has a reason for being so, wisdom is progressive, incremental, expansive, and benevolent, wisdom is also precision and accuracy in decision making. This is why the Bible states with knowledge: "I, Wisdom, live together with good judgment. I know where to discover knowledge and discernment" Proverbs 8:12. In other words, this means that living with wisdom means living with the "light" of common sense, and who chooses wisdom as a spiritual companion can never be mistaken.
And the sapiential books of the Bible, such as the Book of Proverbs, give readers of the holy scriptures valuable advice or maxims of action to emerge victorious from any spiritual war. Those who seek spiritual answers and inspiration from above in the sapiential literature are looking in the right place. Moreover, Jesus' teachings about the Kingdom of God are not a continuation of the law of Moses, but a continuation of the books of Proverbs, Wisdom, and Ben Sira.
And the wisdom of the sapiential Books can be summarized in a few simple principles, such as explaining that human beings have to choose between loving life or loving death, and the Book of Proverbs teaches this truth with these words: "Always do the right thing, and you will live; keep on doing wrong, and you will die" Proverbs 11:19. An example of this principle is recounted in the Book of Genesis. Cain was shown the right path when God spoke to him, but Cain, driven by passion, especially envy, chose the wrong path, and for this reason, he was punished, forced to bear a mark and to live a wandering and vagabond life. Like Cain, all men must choose, and in this lies all human wisdom and freedom. Understanding this truth is the foundation of all personal development.
