Ripple is the antithesis of what the cryptocurrency community is built upon. Also, one of its founders was taken to court to stop him releasing en masse his own holding of Ripple. The same team that created Ripple is behind Stellar Lumens. I prefer Stellar Lumens because it's the same team, minus the renegade dumper :)

Thing about Ripple though (and as I said above) is it's gonna be the one to break through. People using it without realising. That's a win for blockchain.
