Meet Asimov, the first humanoid that promises to be open-source
Have you ever thought about how problematic it would be if a few companies in the world monopolized the production of humanoids? The startup Menlo seems to have come up with the solution; they created a project called Asimov that promises to deliver a totally open-source hardware and software project. Currently, the project is on day 117, and they have already built its legs, and it is already capable of walking and balancing itself.
See below how it currently stands:
Even though it promises to be open-source, the project hasn't shared much about the hardware yet; I only found these sketches on X:
Just by looking at the images, I can already see that it's different from other models, which use motors in the calf area for balancing.
For those who want to take a look at some of the things they have already made open-source, check out the github and some docs, but there's nothing on the parts used yet. For those who want to follow the project, there is the asimovinc X account.
