Run, Dude, Run - Quest to 2018 Races

Kicking off the dust...

Hi everyone - taking a break from my regular investing posts to start documenting my running journey! One of my New Year's Resolutions this year is to run at least two races - 10K or further. I haven't been the best about training in the past - a lot of my cardio used to just come from basketball - but the running community here has really inspired me to start back up!

And without further ado, here's to my most recent run:

Date: February 10, 2018

Shoes: Nike Fly Knits

Route: SF
San Francisco Financial District to Palace of Fine Arts (~4.5 miles)

Distance
~4.5 miles

Notes
I've been out in SF for work recently where the weather has been pretty perfect. My shoes have been collecting dust for much of winter (the joys of living in the NE), but nothing like 65 and sunny to inspire you to lace back up.

While I struggled pretty hard with my conditioning throughout the run, it was great to get some air flowing through the lungs. After battling SF's hills for the first two miles, I finally made it to the water where the route leveled out.

I had every intention of running around the Palace of Fine Arts (another ~1 mile), but by the time I got there, I was GASSED. Ended up having to walk through the park, but that did give me some time to take a few nice pics!

I'm still looking to develop a formal training plan so would love to hear any advice or thoughts below!

Thanks for reading! Please feel free to leave any comments, questions, or thoughts below!

Welcome to @runningproject!

SF is a beautiful place to run.

thanks @dlew! Excited to be a part of the community.

It sure beats the weather we're getting in the NE...

We may train or peak for a certain race, but running is a lifetime sport.

Sick! More running posts, I need motivation! haha

I was just starting up again when we got snow dumped on us and cold wind chills. So I'm back to yoga and bodyweight training for now

Wow and I thought the hills where I live are bad...I can't imagine running in SF! The temperatures sure do sound nice though compared to the cold we've had in the eastern parts of the country this winter.

It's nice to see people getting involved in the growing community of runners we have here on steemit. As far as training plans go, I think there are plans in the works for people to share training plans in @runningproject the near future. Finding the right one can be difficult depending on what kind of shape you're in and how often you run or have run recently.

Here's one they just did for a 5k training plan...
