Lazy Saturdays that feel like Sundays (BONUS: dessert recipe inside)

in #ruthphotostories6 years ago (edited)

Another lazy day has gone by. We finished the second season of Dark on Netflix. I loooooooved this! German production, really good (a great opportunity to freshen up mein Deutsch).

I got really really lazy today and I'm not going to share anything artistic, just a simple dessert recipe.

On Friday, Dad asked me to make a millefeuille for him, but I didn't have puff pastry at home, only savoiardi. "Sorry Dad", I said, "no millefeuille this time, but I'll see what I can do".

I had to improvise!

I prepared my patisserie cream.
1 litre of milk
1 1/2 cup of sugar
1 1/2 tb spoon of butter
1 vanilla
2 eggs
1 cup of flour
1 cup of water
Let the milk, sugar, vanilla and butter boil in a pot. Mix the eggs, flour and water and give them a good stir. Once the milk starts boiling add the egg-and-flour mixture, lower the heat and start stirring quickly until you get a nice cream (it won't take longer than 2-3 minutes), then take the pot away from the fire.

Then, I placed a layer of savoiardi in a baking tray and poured a layer of cream over it.

I repeated the same procedure once more.

I prepared some whipped cream and topped my dessert with it.

The final touch?

Strawberries!!

The result was a cool, light, creamy dessert with a fruity hint.

Too bad @trumpman hates strawberries... I'm gonna have to finish it on my own!!
