RE: Chronic Pain and Mental Health Apps
Chronic pain changes everything. Most apps pretend bodies do not exist. The
liven app asks about sleep and energy but misses pain and fatigue directly. Here is how I adapted it. In every cognitive behavioral therapy exercise, I manually add a note about my pain level before answering. Pain at 7 today. Then I do the thought work with that context. Not perfect but workable. Before committing, liven reviews from other veterans with chronic conditions showed me the same workaround. The app does not ignore physical suffering, it just does not ask about it automatically. You bring that data in yourself. That honesty helped more than apps that pretend pain does not affect mood.
