The Singapore Night Safari

To cap my son's birthday celebration yesterday, the family went to the Singapore Night Safari. IT WAS FANTASTIC!!!

We've always been zoo fanatics and the magnificent animals - from the huge elephants to the littlest mice- never fail to amaze us. But seeing them in the dark is a novel experience I couldn't recommend high enough for visitors to Singapore.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by a performance by the Thumbuakar Tribe from Borneo. We then walked a 20 minute trail called the Fishing Cat Trail, the highlight of which is well, the fishing cat, which we unfortunately didn't see in action. However, seeing the otters, Indian Gharials, and crocodiles seemingly oblivious to us (I'm sure they weren't though) was more than enough to whet our appetite to see more.

We then proceeded to queue for the Creatures of the Night Show. Quite a long queue, but the amphitheater is quite big so it had ample space for all of us. It was an excellent show, focused on highlighting the incredible predatory and survival abilities of animals.

Next on our itinerary was the tram journey which allowed us to see the rest of the jungle and the animals that lived within. The darkness, the tendency to keep hush lent an entirely different experience to seeing the animals in daylight. Pity that my son was exhausted and barely made it til the end of the tram ride. But that only means one thing: a reason to go back!

I've been to a lot of tourist-y stuff here in Singapore, and I have to say, the Night Safari tops my list of recommended things to do when in Singapore.
