The Toddler part deux
As the days go on, she learns, she grows and becomes more and more curious.
To writing on the walls and on herself with pen, to grabbing an entire loaf of bread only to crumble it up to pieces on the floor in her brothers closet.
I can kind of blame myself for her colouring on her skin... Tattooed role model here.
As the messes continue to happen, I grow tired of picking it up. I went to walmart and bought a pack of child proof locks. I grab the magnetic ones from Safety 1rst. Comes with a magnetic key. I like this one, there are no ties, no buttons, just a piece that you mount on the inside of the door. When you close the door it locks and you use the flat key thingy to unlock it magnetically.
It kept her out and so we have had a lot less messes around. It has been wonderful not having to chase after her so much.
Well yesterday was quite the day. She wanted to eat every minute of the day. I guess she is going through a growth spurt. Food from the fridge, from the pantry. She will empty it all I tell ya.
My husband woke up, he is no night shift so he woke up at around 3pm. And he asks me where the key is to get into the pantry to make his lunch. I go and get it. It's not there. :O Where is it?
The package only comes with one key! I searched the house for over an hour. We tried everything we had for magnets to open this thing up. Fridge magnets and this big magnet... I dont even know where it's from. Looks like it comes off of a heater or something. My husband went and got it from the garage. That didn't work either.
I looked up all sorts of ways to make a stronger magnet. I found staking, rubbing and how to make electromagnets. Well i couldn't make an electromagnet but the other options didn't work.
I was seriously considering taking the door off the hinges to get this thing opened. Why on earth wouldn't other magnets work? I even flipped the magnet thinking instead of pulling it needed to push. Nah-ah, nope, zilch.
Apart from taking the door off the only other option was to go buy another set of locks just to get the key. Traveling to town from where I live is a 30 min drive so we tend to not go for little things.
It was a good thing that I was already going to attend my Kuk Sool class.
I stopped at Walmart bought another one for $20 CND. They did not have just the key :(
Got home, unlocked the door and guess where the key was??? IN THE FREAKIN PANTRY!!! Smh. I locked it inside the pantry....
The struggles of a never ending hungry toddler.

At least I have a 2nd key now.

Oh the pleasures of young children and all that they come with. I have to say I had a good laugh. Our boys are in their twenties but your story brings back memories.
I'm glad you had a laugh. I laughed too when I found the key in the pantry. Memories are the only things that we really have of the past. They are to be cherished. Have a good evening ^_^
Yes memories are all we have. Have a great night as well. :)
Ahhh toddlers. So wonderful.
I can't believe that cupboard incident, I woulda gone nutso.
Especially if the coffee was locked in there...
The coffee is locked in there, everything is. Kids lunch items for school, food for supper, chips, cookies lol everything. It was pretty scary actually. My husband didnt have much of a lunch to go to work with lol.
Omg! I am still laughing!! I love your kids!!!
Childproofing at its finest!! Lol lol lol
I think you are laughing at it more than I am. You should have seen me go, looking for that darned key!! I was trying so hard to find it so that Danny could have good lunch for work lol.
Oh yeah!
Was gonna suggest u and ur hubbs both keeping a key on your person maybe a necklace or a keyring that retracts. May come in handy next time someones tummy becomes rumbly! 😁
We keep the 2nd one in a safe and hidden place just incase. Can't let them little hands get it to it either. They climb!
Oh yeah i remember my climbing days!! Lol
Wow
Please tell me this isnt what i have to look forward to!?!
I know you cant so let me just enjoy this time before she learns how to move around on her own. 🤱🏻
HAHA ya they are all different. My last is my hardest. Always get into something. They all have their own personalities and even though we raise these children we still have to learn from them. Even if its learning to not be locked out of the pantry. lol.
Lol yea i also feel they come in knowing more than we or atleast the things we’ve forgotten.
This is both true. Children have a more natural connection to the earth as they have not been corrupted by technology and all that as you and I. Everything is new to them so they see things more true than we do. These are things that we have forgotten for sure and they do know more as they are born in this day and age, where we were born in a different time and without what we have today. They are to be appreciated for this and for many different things. This is what makes our children the future :)
Girl we not even gonna start on reincarnation! Just another reason we have to remain teachable as adults.
Careful Foxy, that's how Alzheimer starts :P
Joke, it's nothing like that don't worry.
It's started already! With all the things I forget... I would forget my kids if they weren't as loud as they are lol Mommy brain lol
Yeah... that's just Sometimers... Not Alzheimer's ;)
HAHA ya sometimers HAHAHAHA that's funny :D
lol... Now THAT is pure comedy right there... Kids are the BEST... they keep ya young, on your toes and make you laugh every day.
You are on point with that. Even though there are daily frustrations, I can still look back and laugh at it. My head held low sometimes but still laughing. The highlights are in the little things sometimes. Like last night my son was laughing in his sleep :3 That was awesome ^_^
And the part keeping me young, keeps my soul young but my body hurting making me feel old LOL. That's when we notice how out of shape we can be. Or at least how I am lol.
