Makina Sea Log : Julu ,3, 2026

Yesterday afternoon the Admiral arrived as part of his East Coast Tour. It was mid-afternoon so we thought we would do some prep chores. Visiting the Seamstress who was hemming our Trailer Park Bimini. She asked that we return the next day at noon for the finished product. We left there for a grocery store run to pick up provisions. Next stop was to a local metal shop tasked with attaching my wind generator to its pole stand which is to be placed on the stern solar arch. Busy but a productive afternoon.

As evening approached the Admiral set to work on a pork tenderloin stir fry in General Tao sauce served on rice. Yummy!

We caught up from when we last sailed together and turned in for an early night... well at least the oad weary Admiral. It must have been near midnight that the 10th book in the Wheel of Time series was finally placed beside my berth and sleep was found.

We were both up by the crack of dawn to find the Bay before the Town as smooth as ice and not a breath of wind. We thought to got to town for breakfast and plan our chores on this windless day. Late to get ashore and then a longer wait for our meals the day had turned to a scorcher and the wind racing from the cooler waters to the warmer land. We looked at one another saying, "Let's go sailing!".

Prepping Makina for a sail

After motoring out of the narrow channel to the town of Mahone Bay we raised the canvas and headed out into Mahone Bay itself. The offshore wind offered us a nice broad reach towards Chester.

It would have been criminal to have written this day off for sailing. It was one of the nicest we had had in some time; reaching speeds of 7 knots at times.

The late afternoon brought us off of Lynch Island near the channel into Chester. Lynch's had a couple of mooring balls placed there by the MICA Organization. Chester offered a nice anchorage in its back harbor. Not seeking nightlife we decided on the mooring ball.

It seemed the better choice for the fact that it was probably cooler off the shore somewhat with a nice breeze off the coast. Pierre took the dinghy ashore to do some exploring of the island.

Tonight was my turn in the Galley. A coconut milk pork curry was tossed together with a side dish of the Admiral's left overs from last night served with rice. A nice meal to a great day!

Over drinks we watched an amazing sunset.
