The history of planet X or planet is nothing new, already in 1903 the American researcher Percival Lowell gave this name to a hypothetical planet located in the outer reaches of the solar system and that would explain certain disturbances in the orbits of the giants of ice of our solar system, Uranus and Neptune.

La historia del planeta 9 o planeta X no es nada nuevo, ya en el año 1903 el investigador estadounidense Percival Lowell le puso este nombre a un hipotético planeta ubicado en los confines exteriores del sistema solar y que explicaría ciertas perturbaciones de las órbitas de los gigantes de hielo de nuestro sistema solar, Urano y Neptuno.

With a mass ten times greater than that of the Earth and describing a very elongated elliptical orbit located more than 250 astronomical units (AU = Earth-Sun distance) between the Kuiper belt and the Oort cloud, planet 9 would take between ten thousand and twenty thousand years to make a complete revolution around the Sun, which would be equivalent to one Earth year.

Con una masa diez veces superior a la de la Tierra y describiendo una órbita elíptica muy alargada situada a más de 250 unidades astronómicas (UA=distancia Tierra-Sol) entre el cinturón de Kuiper y la nube de Oort, el planeta 9 tardaría entre diez mil y veinte mil años en dar una vuelta completa al Sol, lo que equivaldría al año terrestre.

More than a century later, a team of astronomers have recently revealed solid evidence about the existence of this hidden planet, which would be affecting the unusual behavior of trans-Neptunian objects (TNO), objects located beyond Neptune, after careful observations and simulations.

Más de un siglo después un equipo de astrónomos han revelado recientemente evidencias sólidas sobre la existencia de este planeta oculto, que estaría afectando el comportamiento fuera de lo común de los objetos transneptunianos (TNO), objetos localizados más allá de Neptuno, después de minuciosas observaciones y simulaciones.

According to these astronomers, although there are other alternative hypotheses to planet 9 to explain these anomalies, such as the existence of planets previously displaced from the solar system, it seems that this solution with a new planet is the most consistent of all and they believe that the implementation of the Vera C Rubin Observatory in Chile could be a good tool to solve the mystery.

Según estos astrónomos, si bien existen otras hipótesis alternativas al planeta 9 para explicar estas anomalías como podría ser la existencia de planetas previamente desplazados del sistema solar, parece que esta solución con un nuevo planeta es la más consistente de todas y creen que la puesta en marcha del Observatorio Vera C Rubin en Chile podría ser una buena herramienta para resolver el misterio.
