A team of scientists from Northwestern University have developed a tiny crab-shaped robot just 0.5 mm across, which in addition to walking, is capable of jumping, turning and crawling all remotely controlled, this makes it the world's smallest remote controlled robot.

Un equipo de científicos de la Universidad de Northwestern han desarrollado un diminuto robot con forma de cangrejo de apenas 0,5 mm de ancho, que ademas de caminar, es capaz de saltar, girar y arrastrase todo ello controlado remotamente, esto lo convierte en el robot controlado a distancia más pequeño del mundo.

To develop this mini crab, the scientists used what is called a "memory alloy material", these materials have, lets say, an original shape, after modeling them as we please these materials return to their original shape when heated, in addition it is coated with a thin layer of glass, which returns the robot to its deformed shape when cooled.
