Until now, automation in restaurant kitchens was like this, a robot that fries, another that cuts, another that mixes, but now that logic began to change in a concrete way, Ant Group officially put into operation a humanoid robot called Robbyant R1.


Designed not to assist in the kitchen, but to coordinate it, it is a humanoid robot that is already working in the restaurant at the company's headquarters. Unlike prototypes exhibited at fairs, it acts and a real environment with real orders and a continuous flow of work.


Technically, Robbyant R1 was designed to deal with one of the most chaotic environments that exist, a compact kitchen, it has 34 degrees of freedom, allowing highly precise movements of the hands, arms and the entire body. something essential for handling ingredients, utensils and dishes in small spaces.




The robot acts as the central node of this ecosystem.


According to the company, the robot learned to prepare nearly 10,000 different dishes and 1000 types of tea, for which it even uses a high-power wok, capable of achieving the so-called Wok Hei, that smoky aroma characteristic of Chinese cuisine, normally associated only with experienced chefs. Physically, Robbyant R1 measures approximately 1.70 cm in height, weighs about 110 kg and moves on a base with wheels, reaching speeds of up to 1.5 per second.


Choosing wheels instead of bipedal locomotion prioritizes stability and safety in busy service areas, but the real difference is not just in the body, it is in the system, the restaurant where Robbyant R1 operates is not a traditional kitchen, it is an intelligent automated kitchen where various robotic equipment works in a coordinated manner.


Receive orders, look for ingredients, place items in the stir-fry robots, coordinate the stages, and assemble the final dishes to deliver to employees who are still human. The preparation itself does not Entirely there, a collaboration occurs between multiple agents or robotics and intelligent systems, all connected by an embedded multimodal language model developed by Ant Group itself.
