Cool. But the thing is even if Deep Learning predicts the formation of planets, it is difficult to corroborate. I wonder how we will be able to say for sure that Deep Learning had predicted correctly?

in fact that is impossible @oivas.
since we have never really been able to observe the genesis of planets, this will be very difficult. but the program runs according to calculations that researchers have created and it is more precise than anything else so far.
I get that @oendertuerk. I had extensively read about the ways of planet discoveries. It would be interesting to know that till the turn of the century the only way to figure out the presence of a planet was by the gravity it exerted on the star(no clue how they did that) or changes in minute brightness of star when a planet passed in front of it. Why? Because the distant stars are so bright to the space telescopes that it is difficult to see the planets revolving around them. Heck, our own Mercury was a chance discovery when it passed in front of the sun.
The point is there is decent amount of guesswork in astrophysics. Hence the scepticism. That said can't rule out that AI can probably open up a new way of looking at things.

@oivas, many scientists believe that our knowledge of the universe and everything around it is a grain of rice in comparison, and that what we do not yet know and what is hidden from us, is at least minimum one football field big.
