Great Scientists Regretting Their Discovery
Great scientists also feel remorse, although they find tools or devices that can be used for the benefit of the crowd. However, the scientist is human, and their invention is also for humans. But, always a good discovery is used for things that are not good / evil.
Alfred Nobel and Mikhail Kalashnikov, who are they? you know them? they were scientists who invented a device to stop the war. Who would have thought, their findings are apparently used to make wars everywhere.
1). Alfred Nobel - Inventor Of Explosives (Dynamite)
Alfred Nobel is a Swedish chemist, a scholar who speaks five languages from the age of 17. The invention of the dynamite was patented in 1867 and intended to make safer and more stable explosives. By incorporating stabilizers into nitroglycerin, Alfred Nobel hopes this explosive could end a war that could have killed his brother, Emil Nobel.
What happened? Unexpected. The army did not think so. The dynamite explosion even made more people die. A newspaper in France once wrote, "Dr. Alfred Nobel, became a rich man because his findings were the way to kill more people in a fast way." Alfred Nobel was disillusioned with the paper and dedicated a portion of his wealth to honor those who contributed to world peace, under the name of the Nobel Prize.
2). Arthur Galston - Agent Orange (Chemical Weapon)
Arthur Galston is an American crop expert, l initially Arthur Galston just wanted to help accelerate plant growth. Arthur Galston focuses on synthesizing triiodobenzoic acid (TIBA), a hormone that can accelerate the growth of soybeans. ARRIVAL initially succeeded in crippling agriculture in Vietnam during the war. But at the same time, TIBA also causes birth disturbance in the surrounding residents, and health problems in adults.
As a result, Arthur Galston regrets this discovery and strives to prohibit its use anywhere. Arthur Galston lobbied the ruler since 1965 to stop using it until the compound was banned in 1971. To the New York Times he once said, "No one can guarantee that the results of science can be used for the good of mankind. , but can be used for building or destruction. This is not a science fault. "
3). Mikhail Kalashnikov - AK-47 Rifle Inventor
Initially, Mikhail Kalashnikov only intends to defend his country. Mikhail Kalashnikov became a member of the armed forces and hearing complaints about the weapons used was ineffective. With his interest in weapons and machines, Mikhail Kalashnikov makes better weapons. His work is Avtomat Kalashnikov Model 1947 or known as AK-47.
The price is cheap, lightweight, and able to survive in all countries climate. Mikhail Kalashnikov became a hero in Russia.
Unfortunately, a group of terrorists successfully copied the findings of Mikhail Kalashnikov. The AK-47 imitations were used to attack other countries blindly and violently. Mikhail Kalashnikov once said to The Guardian media: "I am proud of this discovery but I am sad that this weapon is used by terrorists, I better create equipment that can help ease the work of the farmers". In 2009, 100 million AK-47 units were produced, half of which were pirated.
4). Kamran Loghman - The Pepper Spray Gun
Pepper spray is a weapon that is not too deadly. Created in 1960, it aims only to keep the packets brought by the postal clerk in order not to be bitten by dogs on their way. The FBI increased the weapon's ability in 1980 by using the oleoresin capsicum (OC) found by Kamran Loghman. OC is also not too deadly, only a compound that can cause heat effects similar to pepper but five times hotter than pepper and can cause temporary blindness, difficulty breathing, burning sensation, and coughing.
In 2011, Kamran Loghman saw his findings were used to disperse peaceful demonstrations on Wall Street (Occupy Wall Street). He regretted this incident and said, "The use of the device is beyond what it should be, not in line with the training in the police department I've ever known, myself certifying 4,000 police in the 1980s to 1990s to use the spray. found pepper spray as a weapon ".
5). Orville Wright - Aircraft
The plane was created by two brothers, Orville Wright and Wilbur Wright. First sold to American soldiers in 1909, for the purpose of observation. But it turns out the plane was used to destroy during World War II. Orville Wright wrote a letter to the Aircraft Production Board: "The plane has made the war even more destructive and deadly, I do not believe any country wants to start a war."
After seeing the ubiquitous destruction during World War II, the plane, Orville Wright realized his discovery was not in line with expectations, "We originally hoped to have found a discovery that could keep peace on Earth but we were wrong".
6). J Robert Oppenheimer - Inventor of The Atomic Bomb
J Robert Oppenheimer is an American pride for nuclear experts, astrophysicists and also experts in quantum field theory. J Robert Oppenheimer has also been researching Black Holes. In World War II, J Robert Oppenheimer wanted to make an atomic bomb that was believed to stop the war. J Robert Oppenheimer made a neutron chain reaction to power the bomb.
The result is Trinity, a hydrogen bomb with an explosive power equivalent to 18,000 tons of TNT. After seeing its usefulness, including when Hirosimaa was devastated by bombing. J Robert Oppenheimer asks the ruler to revoke his security system.
They are great scientists, but they are not supposed to find their inventions where they should not be. every discovery, scientists have intentions and want to build, but their goals are all not as expected.
You can write a great importent history..
