You are correct about my being "lucky" to be found by curie. Very few people are interested in curing aging because there are many erroneous preconceptions. For example, we have done surveys and people believe that living to 150 in good health would be "boring". The article mentioned the Pew polls where 56% of Americans say they do not want to do anything to extend their lifespans. This means that those of us who value our brief lives are not going to have the political clout to do anything about our aging and death; THE MOST IMPORTANT CONSEQUENCE OF OUR LIFE.
I mentioned apathy in the article and it is not a trivial matter. People do not get that aging and death are bad for them and they need to do something about it. We have studied this phenomenon and we call it a "deathist trance". We can't even point this fact out to them because it turns people off. Dr. de Grey has even stopped talking about the "deathist trance" because his advisers have told him that it is politically disadvantageous and not constructive, but it is the truth.
Even as I write this post, I see the $32+ award from curie being chipped away with downvotes. I hesitate to write about life extension on Steemit because I know it will be a real dud as far as gaining upvotes goes, but I do greatly appreciate your encouragement. To sum things up, IMO obviously humanity needs to end aging and death, but it is next to impossible to convert them to a life saving ideology. Until de Grey came along, aging research was a career killer in academia and science. Now, at least it is going mainstream with Google's Calico and Venter's Human Longevity, Inc. as a result of a lot of hard work.
