Seablue Journal: Inspiration comes before the dawn.

How often have you woken at night to find the Muse calling? It seems to invariably fall upon me in the early hours before the dawn. Four o'clock in the morning I rose today. A strong cup of coffee and some time sitting in the darkness on the front porch and then the call to work.

I'm involved in a project of putting the King James Bible on the blockchain. It is a quite an enormous task really. I began thinking I could get by with a chapter a day. When I did the math, I realized that was going to be a long task. I stepped it up to three chapters, then fell off to one chapter again. Then a house move and I put the task aside to concentrate on relocating.

A month away from the task and I knew I had to come at it with a more determined mindset. A week ago I made the commitment to writing. It has progressed well. I'm developing a better discipline. I've come to understand that the hardest part is starting.

The weekend had me working long hours and little time for posting online. To retain my energy, I had to stick to a strict regime of sleeping between shifts. Even then it was an arduous task to complete the shifts, with several periods of sleep only amounting to three hours before embarking on sixteen-hour work shifts.

By the end of each day I could barely think, let alone write. Yesterday I dealt with the necessity of getting my drivers license renewed and then cleaned up the kitchen, which had been somewhat destroyed by my family while I was away working. I don't resent the task. It is another of those exercises where discipline in keeping the kitchen clean feeds into the many other disciplines. Each reinforces the other. The capacity for pushing into resistance increases and a productive spirit is engendered.

I've managed to find some useful work process whereby I am being productive and enjoying one of my great joys in life. I use the time to listen to music while I write. So I'm finding this writing life can be a very pleasant task if I work at it. I don't have plans to write novels or specific articles. For this moment it brings me joy just to write about myself and my own thoughts. And there you have them! My thoughts for this early morning before the dawn. The time of the Muse. In the dark, before the light, we embrace and comfort each other. Our love steadily grows.

I also need to work on discipline. I've taken one of my old contracts back up, which means I have to manage my time more carefully, it also means I nearly missed a couple of your posts.

Whenever I see 4 AM it is because I am still up. :)
