Wisdom Seeker: Good will come to the one who lends generously and conducts his business fairly. Psalm 112:5

The Psalm 112 is a hymn of sapiential characteristics that describes the blessings received by those who fear God and live according to his eternal and perfect law, because in a universe governed by ethical laws, every action has its retribution. With these words of praise, the song begins: "Praise the LORD. Blessed are those who fear the LORD, who find great delight in his commands" Psalm 112:1.
The spiritual gift of fear of God is essentially that heart which allows one to see the needs of others as if they were one's own. To fear God is to seek a balance between our own happiness and the happiness of others. In other words, the fear of God is the heart of flesh that God requires in order to have a spiritual relationship with him.
Man is free, and lies in the common sense, in the good intelligence, to seek the correct path, as the psalms of the Bible teach, men can choose between leading a life of righteousness and mercy (compassion, kindness, gentleness) or not. And those who fear God, the psalm 112 teaches with wisdom in its first words, are blessed and truly happy.
And Psalm 112 continues and expresses this beautiful phrase for a seeker of wisdom: "Good will come to the one who lends generously and conducts his business fairly" Psalm 112:5. The Psalm speaks of being generous and conducting business honestly, and that is something extremely difficult in everyday life; those who dedicate themselves to earning money to live and support their families can hardly remain free from sin, the temptation to take selfish advantage or obtain an undue gain is just around the corner.
The Psalm teaches that earning money is not inherently good or bad, but it is a tool that, if not used wisely, can lead to unpleasant results. Money—and this is the danger—blinds the reason of ambitious men and makes them accept terrible dangers.
But in the end, Psalm 112 says that conducting business honestly, wisely, has a special reward: the good. And this good can manifest itself in many ways, in prosperity, well-being, or security. Ultimately, Psalm 112 invites people to avoid error and destructiveness and act ethically in order to be blessed by God and the universe.
