서울엔 눈이 왔습니다/ snow in seoul

오늘은 데이빗 린치 감독의 ‘이레이저 헤드’와 장 뤽 고다르의 ‘네 멋대로 해라’ 를 보고 왔습니다. 어쩌다보니 고전 특집으로다가 봤네요.

‘이레이저 헤드’를 보고는 참, 생명의 탄생을 거룩하게 생각하는 기독교인들이 싫어하겠다는 생각이 들었네요. 이게 첫 장편 영화인 것도 놀랍고요.

‘네 멋대로 해라’는 그 시대에 나온 영화들을 같이 봐야 더 아름답게 느껴질 거 같았습니다. 일단 ‘400번의 구타’ 먼저..

Today, I watched David Lynch’s Eraserhead and Jean-Luc Godard’s Breathless. Somehow it turned into an unexpected classic film special.

After watching Eraserhead, I couldn’t help thinking that Christians who regard the birth of life as sacred would really hate this film. It’s also astonishing to think that this was Lynch’s first feature-length film.

I feel like Breathless would be even more beautiful if I watched it together with other films from the same era. I’ll start with The 400 Blows for now.
