Severance lost me entirely in season 2

I had high hopes for this show but towards the end of season 1 they did a few things I didn't like. For one thing they started to do what it seems all shows were doing at that time which was to dial up the gayness in a sort of way of "reeducating" the viewers, and whatever man, I don't really take issue with this but it did make the news and while a lot of people were celebrating how brave it was other people, a good chunk of them, wrote the show off from that point forward. It seemed such a terrible risk on Apple's part but they are one of those production companies like Amazon and Disney where I don't think they seem to be overly concerned about turning a profit.

You have to admit that it is a pretty interesting premise for a show: You go to work and once you go through the magic elevator something happens to your brain so that work "you" and not at work "you" are the same body but completely different people. Outside of work you has no recollection of anything that goes on at work so it must be pretty great for that guy, because as far as his life is concerned he never goes to work other than driving there.

For "work you" life is pretty shitty though because the only thing you ever know in life is the work because your brain is switched off once you go up the magic elevator and as far as you are concerned "work you" never actually leaves the office.

As you might expect this lead to some level of opposition in the workforce as people try to escape only to go up a stairwell, turn a corner, then rush through a door and simply emerge back into the same hallway they just escaped from.

It had an opportunity to be a bit of a mind-freak sort of story and it looked like they were actually going to start doing some investigating into exactly that... but then in season two, which was delayed for a while and there was 3 years between the two seasons, there seemed to be a bit of viewership loss because it is a fairly complicated story they have going on here, and one that you can't really walk away from for 3 years and still know what the hell is going on.

For me, I attempted to first watch with just the recap remind me of what had happened, then I decided to go back and watch the old episodes, and then just found myself tuning out in lieu of other things because there are 10, 1-hour episodes and that is a lot to ask of a person now, isn't it?

The ratings for the show are really high, above 90% for both seasons 1 and 2 and they are already booked for a season 3, which is not a surprise.

I haven't had a great experience with this show and much of this can be attributed to the accidental 3 year gap between season 1 and 2. So my question to the people out there is something that I normally ask of my own audience

Should I watch it ?

I will soon finish with the two shows that I have been watching LandMan and Pluribus and then I won't really know what to do.

Should I return and give this one another crack? Or do you have a recommendation for something else to see?

As far as I know this can only be legally streamed on AppleTV+
