I do wonder to what extent people who are concerned about the tangibility of an asset like gold will be able to trust digital gold. But I suppose it's not all that different from the old silver certificates and gold backed paper currency.
My own interest in gold and silver coinage has always been large part historical and numismatic. I find that there is a certain "charm" to having actual antique gold Sovereigns and old European gold coins from 100 years ago.

I wouldn’t trust Electronic Gold if it couldn’t be redeemed for an equal Face Value amount of “Circulating Gold Coins”… I wouldn’t trust Silver Certificates if the weren’t 100% backed by or redeemable in “Circulating Silver Coin”… Nobody even has a clue that our Common U.S. Coinage will be grandfathered into our New Product Line of United States Stable Coinage…
