New Years Eve

Afternoon everyone ….

It’s been a very roller coaster year for me. Both business wise and personally. The year started out very strong for me in both business and personally. My shop has gotten closer to being set up as I would like it, but still has a long way to go as I’m being very specific on what I expect it to look like and its functionality. But it will get there.

I still don’t know how I pulled it off, but I managed to take four actual vacations away this year. Which is more vacations then I’ve taken in over a decade total. They were all fantastic, did the Dominican Republic (Puta Cana) in March, did the Grand Canyon in June, went to see @summertooth in Oregon in July with @dfinney meeting up with us for most of the trip as well to Crater Lake, then our last vacation was a week down the Jersey shore in August. I was very fortunate this year and thoroughly enjoyed all of them. I’m hoping for a couple more vacations this year.

Unfortunately as fall began, so did all the unexpected turmoil of the year. My mother’s brother passed away the beginning of October the day after his 80th birthday. He was not sick, hadn’t been in the hospital in five decades. Did see his doctor yearly though. Shortly after that in the beginning of November my girlfriend’s uncle passed away from an unexpected heart attack while driving. Aside from the death, my girlfriend is named the executor of the estate. Which wouldn’t be much of an issue if…… we could find the originally signed will. Also if he wasn’t a partial hoarder….. his house is filled with stuff, we’ve gone down to his house nearly a dozen times now coming back with truck fulls of stuff to donate. This is going to be a process. The lawyer has started the probate process, now it’s waiting game.

I managed to get all my jobs completed before the end of the year that were promised. I finished a total bathroom remodel on Christmas Eve. Yep, weather played a major factor in that delay. I also completed a fireplace mantle which was supposed to be installed prior to Christmas as well, but because of weather it was actually installed on Monday. Everyone is happy with the work and I am able to take a quick breather until Monday. Not a true breather because I have all sorts of paperwork piled up which needs to be addressed. But I’ll get it done.

***I wish everyone a wonderful New Year’s Eve, stay safe and enjoy the night….
